My blog of things and thoughts
And I started so well... Well, perhaps I am allowed the weekends (and Monday and Tuesday) off from writing the daily blog.
Been a busy couple of days, but not necessarily with actually going out and doing the magic, but more to do with the admin side of it. The main source of my entertainment over the last three or four days has been the Tax Return. As someone who is a qulitfied financial adviser I had to learn the basics of tax and accounting (and almost went down this route for a career at one point) I take pleasure in being able to complete and submit my own accounts without relying on paying an accountant to do it for me. It's not like I need the corporate accounting team of Enron, is it?
After staring at a screen full of number my head was literally throbing come Sunday evening. And each year I promise that I'll get the accounts wrapped up soon after the tax year ends in April, and every January I'm sorting through a pile of scrunched up receipts.
The positive is it is a great time to reflect on pass bookings. Sorting through the invoices I found parties I had entertained at and weddings where I had mingled round the crowds. Sometimes to the extent that I could even remember the names of the people and the tricks I had shown them - I hope they remember me.
Amongst all this looking back I have also been taking bookings for this year. One of which is an event at Porsche in Reading. Last year I performed at a couple of Porsche dealerships as part of their launch campaign for the new style 911, which went down really well and they have asked me back for another event in April.
I've also been booked for a 21st birthday party for later this month. It is a venue that I have been at quite a bit and the staff actively recommend me their bookers. Fortunately it is a great Berkshire venue and a pleasure to entertain at.
