Magic Shop - Robert's recommendations

I often get asked how to start learning magic, here is a selection of books and DVDs to get you started.

I particularly recommend are The Mark Wilson Complete Course in Magic (covers every aspect of magic and contains routines regularly used by professional magicians), The Royal Road to Card Magic by Jean Hugard (covers all the sleights and techniques to get you started with a pack of cards) and Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, which should keep you going for a while!

The DVDs by Derren Brown, David Blaine and Dynamo don't teach you how to do the tricks, but are good to watch for inspiration and to see what you can do with a bit of practise.

I am also on the committee of the Home Counties Magic Society which meets near Reading, Berkshire so please contact me if you would be interested in joining and meeting with real magicians every month and seeing them perform and lecture their own tricks.
